Latrina Travels – Camping Trips

No matter where you live, or what season you may be experiencing, it’s never a bad time to go camping. In the summer, the early spring when the flowers are in bloom or in the dead of winter.

I remember as a child, in the hottest month of the year, my mom would take us all camping. Her friends would join us as well as their children. It was a time of enjoyment and peacefulness. Even as a small child, I was aware of it — the beauty of this wonderful place that we live and all the million of places to explore. I think that’s when my wanderlust began. With a large walking stick in hand, my sisters and I would set out into the trees. We never went too far from our camp, but still far enough for us to feel empowered though we were so small compared to the towering trees.

And when we weren’t exploring, we were at the camp roasting marshmallows over a fire. All while the grown-ups were trying their hardest to scare us with ghost stories. We played truth or dare, hide and seek (in the dark, mind you, it was scarier than the ghost stories!) and whatever silly game we could think of.

And in the morning, after breakfast we would set out toward the lake where we would spend the entire afternoon. Chasing each other into the water, we had a ball. It’s the small things in life. But are they really that small? Camping can be done anywhere and like I mentioned earlier at any day of the year. However, it’s the connections you make with the people you are with is what really matters. Those are the memories that stick with you the longest. They definitely have for me. And maybe that is why I enjoy camping so much or just nature in general. Because it invokes something in me, of happy times and some pretty fantastic memories.

I’d love to hear what you think of camping. And if it’s not your sort of thing, then what is? Do share! :)

can you believe I’ve never been on a REAL camping trip? I’ve had school camps and all, but they’re always at designated sites where you sleep in a sleeping bag in a building, and they have a kitchen that cooks our meals. Never been on one where I have to cook outside and all, I should really try it! Not too sure how my boyfriend would feel about it since he’s probably had enough experience from his military days to last a lifetime hahah.

Ha, I must admit I have never taken a real one as well! The only thing we would do as kids was to ‘camp’ in our backyard and I guess that really doesn’t count ;) We’d just go inside in the morning and have a lovely breakfast there as well. Those are happy memories…

Well, Latrina definitely makes me want to go on my first one ever!

Oh! I hope you get to try it sometime, Juni. It’s absolutely beautiful (and extremely romantic by the way!) to be out underneath the night sky. :)

I used to love camping back home! We would do it often, but back home, our camping consisted of being in the sort-of wooded area next to the beach. I would love to experience the “true” camping of being in the forest here on the mainland, but you probably know by now that I’m kind of frightened of bears. lol! Great post Latrina, I just love reading about your wanderlusts and travels :)

Haha, you and those bears! :P I don’t blame you! I’m not going to lie, on my recent road trip, we drove through the mountains and I was on the look out for any bears or wolves! lol But I only saw dogs and deer, so yay. :)

I’d definitely not go camping if there were bears! Although camping in the forests just sounds lovely…
