Interiors on my mind

Interiors on my mind

As I’ve told you in my last post, I’m moving to a new city really soon. It’s ging to be the first flat, that I’ll get to decorate on my own. I will be able to fill it exactly as I wish and I’m excited.

I got the keys to the place yesterday and it’s so beautiful – hardwood floors, lots of white, lots of natural light to have fun with. Above is a shot of the living room, so you get an idea. The windows are full-sized and there’s morning sun. I am still pinching myself that I will get to sit on (my own) couch soon, watch the sun rise and enjoy this room!

My ideas for the new apartment

I’m really looking forward to decorating everything and making it Pinterest pretty, hehe. Of course I’ll take most of the furniture I already own with me, so I will have to work with them. Still, there are some new items to fill my home. I really want to take my time in shopping for furniture, and hope I can find mostly second-hand pieces. After my last move I made the mistake of buying everything all at once and ended up not liking some of the pieces I got.

One of the first pieces I ordered is a beautiful moroccan inspired rug. It fits perfectly into the colour-scheme I am envisioning for the flat: Cream, rose, some terracotta, some sage. All in all, I want my new space to be a little oasis of comfort, with a relaxed and beach house vibe. I want people to walk in and feel instantly relaxed and at home.

My plans for the apartment is to fill it with plants, pretty textiles, candles, books. Everything I enjoy having around. A big inspiration are the always beautiful home tours on Cup of Jo and also the interior blog sfgirlbybay.

I hope that I find the time to take you guys along on the decorating journey because interior/before-after blog posts are the ones I enjoy the most at the moment. Some DIY’s, some shopping guides, some ideas on how to live energy-sufficient and (almost) waste-free.

Do you have any favourite online interior sites at the moment? Or tips for simple living?
